4 January 2010: A very happy new year to all our friends and customers!
We hope that your new year will be filled with joy and happiness. We have exciting plans: We will be introducing our new fragrance 'Sattva' in the coming months, and hope to bring out a new line of incense called 'The Mother's Excellence Fragrances' which will carry a small donation to charity for each packet sold. First in this line of incense will be an ethical Sandalwood. Watch this space!
19 December: a pre-Christmas thought on giving
Have a look at this site: www.givingwhatwecan.org set up by kind folks who have made the pledge to donate 10% of their life's income to charity.
Now these wonderful people have realized, as all of us should, that more money does little to make you happier, that we are very well off compared to most people and that a little bit of money can go a very long way in alleviating poverty and suffering in the world. Now of course giving away 10% of your income is not all that much hardship when you earn an average of $100,000 a year in your life rather than a more average or below average income, and you may not agree with their list of preferred charities (my favourite one is the Joliba Trust), but there is no denying that their heart is in the right place.
And if you're feeling poor because the Christmas shopping bonanza has left the old bankbalance firmly in the red, do the 'how rich are you really?' test on the site.
I can tell you this much: it's going to make you feel a lot better!

22 November 2009: On developing a new fragrance
It is not easy to develop a good incense. Of course the fragrance has to be pukka, but the incense must also burn well, must not be too brittle and must be easy enough to roll, so getting it just right is not easy. Many, many cases of trial and error stand between a fragrance idea and its actual realization, and our friends in India have a dedicated team who work on developing new fragrant gems for us!
We will have two new fragrances in stock from January, they are being rolled and packaged as we speak!. The first one is a new addition to our Mother's India Fragrances range called 'Sattva'. Strong, like our other India Fragrances, and a rather masculin, purfiying fragrance, a bit of an alpha male after the feminine sweetness of Ganesh. We love it! The second one is an ethical sandalwood, very precious indeed, and I'll tell you the story behind it in a next blog. It's good!
17 November 2009: New Site!
In July this year, we had a very interesting meeting with a website expert. A very clever bloke indeed. He took a good look at our little site and came out with words like signposting, high-res, social networking, and some that required a dictionary. He also said 'nice' and that made us like him even more. So we've followed up on some (most) of his advice and carelessly discarded some of his more complex statements, and here it is, our revamped, signposted, high-res and very social website. We hope you'll love it, and we'd love to hear from you!!
